TechEd 2004 – IPv6 Session


Iam preparing my notebook for the next upcoming session called “IPv6” – so let´s see what it might bring…

    The IPv6 address looks like it has the fe80:: prefix, which means it is a link-local IPv6 address. Currently, most deployed IPv6 address are in the 3ffe:: or in the 2001:: prefix, so deleting the prefix has no sense. BTW: if your IPv6 address was public, it wouldn’t have been too difficult to guess that other deleted pieces either, only 16^3 guesses…

    you´re right – of course 😉 But it was so much fun to obfuscate the ipv4 adresses… i couldn´t resist to obfuscate the ipv6 ones too
