hair-drier action set

And another nerd-story for this evening. For the upcoming International Student Week in Ilmenau FeM e.V. is going to provide several network and computer services, and for example enough storage space for the 10 days the ISWI lasts.

The space is needed by several teams:

  • VJ-Team: Stores their content for live mixing and cutting action at the Fischerhütte, Ilmenau

  • IStuff: 5 teams is going to record several days of live footage for daily cutting and broadcasting

  • FeM-Streaming: is going to record several events

The hardware of the server is:

  • 3 Ghz P4 (Prescott), 2 GB RAM

  • 2x LSI Logic Megaraid 150-6 SATA Controller

  • 7x 250GB Western Digital SATA

The first test-setup looks like this:

To demonstrate the hair-drying power of the fan cascade…

at the moment not all drives are in the system…but the df -h looks quite impressive so far:

l464:~# df -h
Dateisystem Größe
/dev/hda1 9,2G 800M 8,0G 9% /
tmpfs 1014M 0 1014M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hda2 9,2G 33M 8,7G 1% /tmp
/dev/hda3 129G 109M 122G 1% /var
/dev/md0 1,2T 560K 1,2T 1% /mnt/storage
none 10M 2,7M 7,4M 27% /dev
