A port of the SDL Super Mario War, this game is a stomp-battle multiplayer that resembles Super Mario 3 sprites/scenery.

Features:

neue Xbox Version 1.6 gesichtet…

“It was already reported some time ago a new xbox videochip would be used in new xboxes (thought to appear first in the crystal LE Xbox … but apparently all those were still v1.4 (Focus videochip)).
But now that we saw the first pictures of this v1.6 apparently much more changed then just the videochip … it’s basicly a total new board design. (LCP is still there but with point #4 open …). “D0” probably also moved as the “D0-area” totally changed.
It looks like it won’t be possible to put an extra 64MB ram anymore as the extra places to solder these chips have changed.
Also … it looks like there’s no onboard TSOP anymore. The BIOS chip might have become a (read-only) controller chip (that rectangle “Xyclops” labeled chip above the LPC?) or maybe they placed the TSOP on the back of the motherboard now. It’s all just a guess rigth now … we don’t have any confirmed info yet.

Manufacture Date: 2004-03-22

It’s unknown at this moment if there is extra or new security. This Xbox will (probably) require a new bios (with support for the new xcalibur videochip) and maybe more.

Hmm… nungut. Sie haben ein Patent… mal schauen was denn nun für Speicher in die Xbox2 reinkommen wird…Gerüchten zufolge sollen Details ja auf der E3 (12.-14. Mai 04) bekanntgegeben werden…wir werden sehen…

U.S. patent 6,716,102, granted Tuesday to Microsoft, covers methods for storing data about games in progress.
The patent specifically references “a gaming system (that) includes a hard disk drive for storing applications and other data,” indicating Microsoft may be more committed to equipping future Xbox configurations with onboard storage than previously thought.”

Caustik ist ja schon eine geraume Zeit in Entwicklung. – Aber nun gibt es erste wirklich vorzeigbare Ergebnisse:

FBI und Xbox Live

immer weniger Rechte haben sie… unsere amerikanischen Freunde…. tja…


“In incredible news breaking in the US over the weekend, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has made an application to the Federal Communications Commission requesting easy access to all forms of Internet communication, including Microsoft’s Xbox Live and online PlayStation 2 servers.

If the request is granted, all US-based Internet Service Providers will have to make radical changes to their systems in order to accommodate a backdoor listening post for FBI agents.

The request includes all forms of digital online communication, from instant messenger services to voiceover IP communications, and mentions gaming services such as Xbox Live.

“The importance and the urgency of this task cannot be overstated,” says the proposal, which is co-sponsored by both the U.S. Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration. “The ability of federal, state and local law enforcement to carry out critical electronic surveillance is being compromised today.”

However, this raises the point of how many arrests per day would come from tapping into the Microsoft gaming service. The constant stream of abuse, coupled with the endless threats of violent reprisals, may be too much for the US law agency to handle. Is it illegal to threaten the safety of someone’s family over the outcome of a Project Gotham 2 race?

We’ll find out soon enough… “

Endlich ist die neue Version da !!! – perfekt ! endlich kann man Dynebolic auf die Xbox Festplatte kopieren und auch von dort starten… damit verkürzen sich die Ladezeiten erheblich.. von CD hat es bisher jedenfalls keinen Spass gemacht… Das lang erwartete Feature ist endlich da !! Ich bin in einem Quest “gefangen”… der ist unerwartet gross… unsummen an Viechzeug durfte meine kleine wendige-Level 12 Hunterin schon metzeln… und das Ende des Quests ist nicht in Sicht… damn !

First Xbox 2 software to be unveiled tomorrow



Is Microsoft planning a very unconventional coming out party for Xbox 2?



With just over 24 hours to go before Microsoft’s Xbox press conference at GDC, word has reached us that the company may be planning to unveil the first demonstrations of Xbox 2 software in San Jose tomorrow.


It’s been known for some time that Microsoft plans to use the GDC press conference, which happens tomorrow morning at 11am Pacific Time, to talk about the Xbox 2 for the first time in public – but what exactly the company will be showing off is not known.


Development sources today indicated that Microsoft is not prepared to discuss details of the specification of the console in its announcement tomorrow, and will not be unveiling the actual hardware design either. It’s thought that the company is holding back on commenting on exact specification details until it has more concrete information about Sony’s plans for PlayStation 3.


Instead of hardware, then, Microsoft is expected to talk about software – and today sources indicated to us that when Chief Xbox Officer Robbie Bach takes to the stage in San Jose tomorrow morning, he will be accompanied by demonstrations of the first confirmed titles for Xbox 2.


A number of key Microsoft developers are thought to have prepared demonstrations for the event in video form, and fingers are pointing to companies including British developers Rare and Climax to have created content for the announcement. MechAssault creators Day 1 Studios are also known to be working on Xbox 2 software, so they’re another obvious contender – but Bungie and Lionhead (or Big Blue Box rather), both slaving away in the latter stages of key Xbox titles, are thought to be unlikely to have anything to show off.


If these rumours – which are absolutely in the realms of speculation for now – turn out to be true, then Microsoft would indeed have chosen an unconventional but telling manner in which to reveal its next generation plans. New platform announcements generally focus strongly on hardware rather than on software support; by revealing its software line-up before it has even finalised details of the hardware, Microsoft would be delivering a strong statement of intent regarding its commitment to remain focused on game software for its next platform.


Last week Microsoft Europe denied that the company was planning to show off the Xbox 2 at GDC – but earlier statements from the company’s Japanese office confirmed that Bach does indeed plan to discuss the next generation platform tomorrow.

endlich Zeit zum zocken.


endlich wieder Zeit zum zoggen. Und was zoggt man da am besten ? Ein Spiel wo es darum geht einen Hasen zu quälen und mächtig viel kaputt zu machen.



Die Hauptdarsteller des Spiels sind der Sphanx, das Wiesel, und Redmond, der Hase. Beide sind aneinander gekettet, waren sie doch eigentlich für Tierversuche vorgesehen.


So die erste handvoll Spielstunden muss ich sagen: ausgezeichnetes Spiel. Coole Sprüche und ne Menge Quäl- und Kaputtmach-Action.

Xbox 2: Information Unveiling At GDC

“Rumors have been going around for sometime now that Xbox 2 would have a showing of sorts at the upcoming Game Developers Conference. Today, with the conference only a couple weeks off, it seems that those rumors have been confirmed. According to a story run by Bloomberg (through Infoseek), word from Microsoft revealed that the system will have the first official information put forth on March 24th, 2004. The Game Developers Conference (GDC) runs from March 22nd – 26th in San Jose, California.”

“When contacted by GameSpot, Xbox group product manager David Hufford said Moran was “talking way over his head.” He continued, “Mr. Moran is aimlessly speculating, and we never comment on speculation. We’ve made no such announcements about future Xbox products and services. And we don’t intend to for quite a while. Until we do, we suggest people take guesswork for what it is.””


Es wurde “confirmed”. Die Xbox2 wird keine Festplatte haben. Mal sehen wo wir in Zukunft statt dessen unsere Savegames abspeichern. – BITTE! nicht auf stehts viel zu kleine und viel zu teure Flashspeicher….


In an interview with Globes, M-Systems President and CEO Dov Moran confirmed what gamers have been speculating for months: Xbox 2 won’t have a hard disc. When asked about its technology development agreement with Microsoft Corporation, Mr Moran said:

”It’s a cooperation agreement. The potential isn’t clear, but it’s in the billions of dollars. Microsoft has taken the hard disk out of its Xbox. The only thing left will be a CD; that’s all. At some point, when users want to save their e-mail messages, copy music, or anything like that, the only storage they’ll have is what we give them. It’s worth hundreds of millions to the company, spread over a few years, and we’ll be the main supplier for it; and I hope the sole supplier.


”Meanwhile, development is intense, and requires expenses, although not major ones. We’ll start supply only in 2005.”


Last month, M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd. announced it entered into a technology development agreement with Microsoft Corporation to develop customized memory units for “future Xbox products”.

“What we’re going to offer for the Xbox doesn’t currently exist,” Ronit Maor, Chief Financial Officer of the Israel-based unit said. “

Xbox2 / Xenon SDK auf Basis des G5 released

Was soll man da sagen: Die Gerüchte bestätigen sich nach und nach. Gut so. Das wird wirklich spannend. Momentan sieht es so aus, als wäre Microsoft klar vorne im Rennen um die nächste Generation von High-Tech Konsolen.


“WE’VE JUST got word that the Software Development Kit (SDK) for Microsoft’s forthcoming Xbox 2 has now been released to Developers.
As we reported earlier, IBM processors are indeed the Xbox 2 development platform of choice.

The big news to us is that the XBOX 2 SDK has been seeded to developers on dual Apple Power Mac G5 systems running a custom Windows NT Kernel.
The Apple Power Mac G5 is based upon two of IBM’s 64-bit Power PC processors and features ATi RADEON 9800 Pro (R350) graphics. However the R350 is believed to be an interim solution and will, in due course, be superseded by the forthcoming ATI R420.
Interestingly the SDK apparently also features an Apple logo on a side bar within the application.
What we don’t yet know is whether the custom Windows NT Kernel for the 64-bit capable IBM Power PC processors is 64-bit or 32-bit.
Though as ATI is so clearly behind with even its iAMD64 device drivers for both Intel and AMD x86-64 platforms, we suspect that it’s 32-bit.”

Es scheint, als kommt das Projekt so langsam aber sicher in Regionen, in denen tatsächlich praktischer Nutzen zu entstehen scheint. Ein kleineres Multimedia Terminal fürs TV muss man jedenfalls erst noch erfinden.

neue Gerüchte um Xbox2 / Xenon : höchstwahrscheinlich ohne Festplatte

Also… die Gerüchte erhärten sich immer mehr: der kommende Xbox Nachfolger wird vermutlich keine Festplatte besitzen. Microsoft hat mit M-Systems einen Vertrag für zukünftige Flashspeicher-Produkte geschlossen. Die Vermutung liegt also nahe, das Flashspeicher statt Festplatte die Zukunft für Xenon markiert…


Dabei nervt es mich heute schon, das nicht alle meine Savegames auf die Platte passen…was wird das erst, wenn ich Memorycards kaufen muss ?


“Flash memory maker M-Systems announced on Wednesday that it has signed a contract to provide storage products for future versions of the Xbox, bolstering speculation that Microsoft may ditch the game console’s hard drive.

M-Systems said in a statement that it has signed an agreement with Microsoft to develop “customized memory units for future Xbox products and services.”
Ronit Maor, chief financial officer at Israel-based M-Systems, said the company could not discuss details of the contract. But Maor said the devices under development would be of significantly higher capacity than the 8MB Xbox memory units Microsoft currently sells to save game and user data. “What we’re going to offer for the Xbox doesn’t currently exist,” Maor said.

Jay Srivatsa, a senior analyst at research firm iSuppli, said the Xbox hard drive so far has been used mainly for ancillary functions like saving progress in a game, not to improve the way games work. Sacrificing the hard drive could be a relatively painless way to trim $10 or $20 per unit from production costs. “I can see why they’d attempt to do that–the hard disk usage on the current Xbox has been pretty minimal,” he said. “At some point, this has got to be a profitable business for Microsoft. They have to draw some lines; look at what can they take out.””

Neuigkeiten von Doom 3 für Xbox


“In einem Artikel gibt Tobi Saulnier, Leiterin der Produktentwicklung bei Vicarious Visions, der mit der Xbox-Konvertierung des id-Titels beauftragt wurde aus dem Nähkästchen. Laut Frau Saulnier sieht die Xbox-Fassung von Doom 3 bereits mindestens so toll wie die PC-Version aus und kann schon zum jetzigen Entwicklungsstand unter anderem eine konstante Framerate aufweisen.
Außerdem ist für die Xbox-Version ist es ein konsolen-freundlicheres Gameplay geplant. So wird es Änderungen bezüglich Gegnerpositionierung und -anzahl geben, der Schwierigkeitsgrad soll davon aber unbeeinflusst bleiben.

Da mittlerweile an beiden Versionen parallel gearbeitet wird, soll auch der Release beider Fassungen möglichst zeitnah erfolgen. Weiterhin investiert Microsoft selbst eine “eine Menge Ressourcen” in die Entwicklung des Titels, so soll auch volle Xbox Live-Support im Spiel sein. “

DreamX – Eine Xbox mit 1.4 Ghz und doppelt Arbeitsspeicher

Nicht wirklich kompatibel. Teuer. Keine Garantie. Kein Xbox Live. Lauter. Warum zum Geier sollte jemand sowas wollen (ausser um vor seinen Freunden anzugeben ?) ? Ich denke mal fällt eher unter die Rubrik: Kurioses, was keiner brauch.


“I had to chance to try and review the Friendtech DreamX-1480 console. The DreamX-1480 is an Xbox with upgraded CPU (a Celeron 1.4Ghz), 128MB of RAM, alternative bios and a few other modifications.”



“The DreamX (also called FT-DreamX or FT-XBX2) is basicly an upgraded Microsoft Xbox console. The Xbox has a Intel Pentium3 (128KB cache) based 733Mhz cpu, the DreamX has a Intel tualatin Celeron (256KB cache) 1480Mhz cpu. The DreamX has a switch to choose between 1480Mhz and 740Mhz. With the lower speed setting you can simulate a nomal Xbox.
The amount of (shared) RAM is doubled, from 64MB in the normal Xbox, to 128MB in the DreamX.

Infos zum Gamecube Nachfolger (N5)

Neue Infos zum Gamecube Nachfolger (Codename: N5)


In einem Interview mit Famitsu erklärte Satoru Iwata, dass der N5 (momentaner Codename für den Gamecube-Nachfolger) abwärts kompatibel sein wird und somit die erschienenen Gamecube-Spiele abspielen könne.

Zudem erwähnte er, dass die graphischen Leistungen bereits sehr realitätsnah seien und es würde immer schwerer, diese noch zu verbessern. Die Rolle von Nintendo sei somit andere Wege zu finden, um das Spielerlebnis für den Spieler zu erhöhen. “

Xbox2 aka “Xenon” Specs

Die Kompatibilität zur Vorgänger-Konsole würde ich gerne opfern, hauptsache es wird ne geile Konsole wie es heute die Xbox schon ist.

The technology also supports up to 512 MB of external memory on a 256-bit bus. However, current specs plan to use 256 MB RAM, big enough for next-generation visuals which are all about computational power rather than large storage.

Compatibility with the original Xbox, which is based on Intel and Nvidia chips, isn’t guaranteed. Microsoft is concerned it would cost too much money in hardware or in licensing fees to enable the Xbox Next to play old Xbox games. This is risky in part because Sony’s strategy has been to maintain compatibility with its old consoles.

The current Xbox has an eight-gigabyte hard disk drive. That drive is useful for online games and storing game art, but many developers chose not to make use of it. As a result, Microsoft seems to have decided that saving the $50 the hard drive costs outweighs its benefits.
