Ich habe glücklicherweise gerade die Herren (und Damen?) von SpaceLiveCast entdeckt. Offenbar machen die schon eine ganze Weile Livestreams zu den verschiedenen Raumfahrt-Events.

P.S.: Wenn ich einen Wunsch frei hätte, wäre das, dass die Seite einen Video Podcast Feed anbietet….(wird Hilfe benötigt?)

It’s called Air Video and it’s frikin’ awesome! ™

What you do is you install the server software and point it to all your directories / drives that might contain video material. You then take your iPhone and install the client app. If you configured the server to be available over the internet you can now connect from anywhere you want using a pass-pin (which is generated) and a password (which is set by you). And by “from anywhere” they mean “anywhere”. WLAN or 3g didn’t make any difference in my test. You start the client, point to a video file and most of the time you are asked if you a) want to directly play is (if the file is ipod-compatible) or b) if you want to live-convert it and play it (when the file isn’t compatible and needs to be re-encoded live for you) or c) if you want to add the file to a conversion queue which will off-line convert the video for you.

In terms of “finding your video” it does look like this:

Simple, eh? Taping a video will bring up this screen:

As I said – Play directoy, Play with Live Conversion and Offline-Conversion-Queue…

It did work with EVERY Video I tried. When I tried Full-HD Movies my serving PC wasn’t able to handle the load but everyhing in SD worked great which is perfect for me.

Therefore I can highly recommend this tool – it really does work better than anything I’ve seen before.

Wird es – und zwar von ProSieben selbst – als Flash On-Demand “auf-der-Webseite” Player. Und hauptsächlich als Notiz für spätere Sendungen an mich selbst hier mal kurz die Anleitung wie man sich die ganzen Einzelvideos von Schlag den Raab auf den heimischen Rechner zieht um sie ohne Werbeunterbrechung und ohne lästiges herumklicken durchaus auchmal auf dem ebenso heimischen Fernseher anschauen kann. Die Qualität reicht dabei so gerade bis kurz nach knapp aber durchaus schaubar.

Also – für mich und den geneigten Leser:

Wie schon bei vorherigen Folgen der Sendung ist der vordere Teil der URL immer der gleiche, also http://videoplayer.prosieben.de/show_comedy/schlag_den_raab/flv/ – geändert wird jeweils das Jahr der Sendung – in diesem Fall 2008, der Monat – in diesem Fall 11 – und die Nummer der Sendung – in diesem Fall die 13. Danach kommt -00-01.flv bis -00-15.flv – wieviele Einzelteile das sind kann man auf der Webseite abzählen oder einfach probieren bis ein Notfound kommt. Einfach oder?

Das ganze Zeug ist dann mit handelsüblichen Playern abspielbar und die Qualität ist wie schon gesagt nicht so schlecht für ein On-Demand Angebot der kostenlosen Sorte:

“The one name that stuck was Plex. I like it because it evokes “cineplex” and the suffix means “comprising a number of parts” which the application certain does. In mathematics, you use the suffix to mean “ten to the power of the number” (e.g. oneplex = 10).

Because there are no four-letter domain names left (seriously, try to find one!) we decided to square the plex, so to speak. Think of either plex^2 or plex squared (the beta logo below tries to connote the word “plex” inside a square that might represent a TV screen). The domain names are plex2.com, plexsquared.com, and plexsquare.com for good measure. They are not active yet.

Let me explain how:

What many people don’t know for sure: This movie is a best-of of the same-named TV-series previously aired on ARD some time ago and after that on other public stations. So if you are an avid documentation-watcher you are going to pay for something already seen (and maybe even stored at home, not to mention the monthly TV-fees…).

The original series contains eleven episodes of 45 mins (Uncut 48 mins, BBC-airing). It’s not difficult to sum up and recognize what’s missing (of course) in the movie-version.

You still may say: But I wanna enjoy it on a big screen with a crowd and once in my life it’s ok paying for old stuff.

Then I better say nothing about “Deep Blue”…

So Treasure Island is not that bad. It keeps you busy for two evenings, but could have been way better:

Here a list of potential flaws:

1. Pirates-of-the-Caribbean-rip-of

Some of the characters acts like the ones from the big picture. John Silver like Johnny Depp and the two english soldiers like those pirate counterparts.

2. Modern dialogues

It is curious to hear the people talking in modern slang and maybe cost the movie some classical flair.

3. Actors

The producers did a big casting for this one. They did not have always a good hand. The acting performances go up and down through the film. This must not be bad acting, it also may be a sign of weak directing.

4. Known faces

To cast well known comedy actors in important roles is a thing I would be very careful with, because you permamently have to think of it and therefore it harms the overall atmosphere.

5. Invent new roles

Inventing roles is always a sin, even when it is a girl showing her naked body numerous times. I guess, this is simpy a marketing thing to attract a modern young audience.

But of course we will wait and hope for a better next one…

I was watching TV when this showed up:

What’s this, you’re wondering. But wonder no more: It’s a teeth bleaching device on the one hand. And a adult torturing device on the other. You don’t just look completely moronic with this thing, you also get a manic grinning concreted into your face for everyone to see.

The TV shopping blokes are even suggesting you should give it to your neighbours kids (you don’t have any, have you?) and let them feel the pain. And well, it’s just 49,95…that’s cheap, compared to the money you have to pay for your cable tv, which is almost as painful…

Back to business: WTF! This was one of the weirdest TV evenings I ever had. I watched an american tv show called “Dirty Jobs” where some guy does quite strange jobs. In fact: When you live in a more modern country like, let’s say… Germany, where we (thankfully were) stopped making war on everyone else in 1945 – well – when you live in such a country, you are really really surprised what a big part of the states is third world territory… And then this: teeth bleaching the hard way… TV is getting stranger and stranger everyday. There are a lot good things coming over the big sea from america…but please; no more american tv shows…

Ich gehöre nicht zu den Leuten, die den Fernseher verteufeln. Da Patriotismus wieder in ist, darf man ruhig auch bei dieser urdeutschen Erfindung die Fahnen schwenken.

Jeden Tag laufen uns eine Menge Serien über den Weg. Zeit für einige Gedanken…

Ich beginne bei den Öffentlich-Rechtlichen:

Verbotene Liebe, Marienhof, Sturm der Liebe,…

Ich kannte doch tatsächlich Männer, die so etwas freiwillig gucken, und die waren meines Wissens nach nicht schwul. Oder Mental-Masochisten, die auf geistigen Schmerz stehen. Wobei ich größten Respekt vor den Drehbuchautoren habe, die sich nach 3000 Folgen immer noch was Neues ausdenken – oder etwa nicht? Ich habs ja nie gesehen…

Lindenstraße

Wie sagte schon Ingolf Lück in Formel 1: Man sollte sich tunlichst zurückhalten, die Lieblingsdinge der eigenen Mutter in den Schmutz zu ziehen…

SOKO, Großstadtrevier, Rosenheim-Cops,…

Warum gibt es eigentlich so viele Serien über Polizisten als menschliche Helden? Wo doch in der Realität jeder den Bullen lieber aus dem Weg geht, außer man ist rechter oder linker Schläger…

Und jetzt die Privaten:

Das Strafgericht, Das Familiengericht, Das Jugendgericht,…

Leider passiert in diesen Shows außer Laberei und Theatralik nicht viel. Wer Filme wie “Running Man” oder “Ein Richter sieht rot” kennt, weiß, was möglich wäre.

Wer wird Millionär?

Ich glaube, diese Frage konnte bislang noch keiner beantworten…

Diese Serie entwickelt sich in Deutschland zu einem Sleeperhit. Obwohl ich sie noch nie gesehenhabe, kann ich mir denken warum: Dem Arzt gehts beschissen, den Zuschauern auch (Schließlich ist es RTL, der Sender für Hartz-IV-Empfänger.), Diagnose: Treffer.

Welcome, Mrs. President

Wann weiß man, dass ein Schauspieler ausgedient hat? Er oder sie spielt die Hauptrolle in einer Fernsehserie, was er oder sie früher wie der Teufel das Weihwasser gemieden hat. In dieser Serie spielt Geena Davis eine US-Präsidentin, was sicherlich in Amerika für ungläubiges Staunen gesorgt hat. Hierzulande sind wir da ja erfahrener, weswegen wir auch nür müde darüber lächeln und weiterzappen. Deshalb wird die Serie nicht über die erste Staffel hinauskommen. Um darüber zu lachen, muss man wissen, dass es nur eine Staffel gibt.

Charmed – Zauberhafte Schwestern

Der Dauerbrenner unter den seichten Mädchenserien. Für alle, denen Buffy zu hart ist. Und für alle notgeilen minderjährigen Jungs. Hässlich sind die drei Mädels ja nicht, wenn nur die Bösewichte nicht so dämlich wären, und das Ganze etwas mehr Ironie hätte.

Die Simpsons

Leider bin ich nie Fan davon geworden. Neiiin!!

Desperate Housewives

Irgendwie habe ich das Gefühl, aus dieser Serie ist bereits nach einer Staffel die Luft raus. Da zieht eine neue mysteriöse Frau in die Nachbarschaft, und der ganze Kram geht wieder von vorne los. So verzweifelt bin ich nicht und lasse wohl die zweite Staffel in der Vorstadt.

Lost

Diese Serie mag ich. Denk ich zumindest. Hier ist noch nicht alles gesagt, was gesagt werden muss. Im Gegenteil: Es gibt bestimmt eine Menge Leute, die zutiefst unzufrieden mit dem Ausgang von Season 1 waren. Und genauso geht es nun weiter. Wieder zieht sich jede Folge zäher als fünf Jahre alter Kaugummi von unter einem Schultisch hin. Welchen Grund hat es eigentlich, in der ersten Folge der zweiten Staffel die gleiche Handlung aus drei verschiedenen Perspektiven zu erzählen oder überhaupt diese ganzen Rückblenden? Ich werde es wohl erst in Staffel 3 erfahren und bis dahin brav weitergucken…

“TV-Browser is a free electronic program guide. It offers more than 140 mainly german stations.”

You get everything you might expect from an electronic program guide with TV-Browser and even more. It’s extensible and fast. The extensibility is exactly the reason why I am using it as the EPG frontend for YAPS/VCR.

I used the WebSearch Plugin of TV Browser to actually do a http-request on the YAPS/VCR webserver. This request adds the recording to the schedule list…easy as it could be…

Infact the only thing I had to do is to add one line to the WebSearch Plugin config, which looks like this:

Simple, isn’t it… one webrequest and the recording is added.

Finally I’ve got a great EPG to program my recordings…yeeehaaa!

At the moment I am redoing the Web-Interface of the VCR to give it a shiny and sleek finish, but in the meantime I want to give you the chance to take a look on YAPS+VCR in action, and of course an even deeper look into the sourcecode:

The last time I had to report this:

“There are some glitches I am afraid to say: one known bug is that there are 12 bytes to much in the outgoing data stream which corrupts the picture. If anyone here can fix it: Do it please I tried one day and I could not find a solution for the problem.”

My idea was now, that those glitches are possibly there because some bytes of the header remain in each packet and therefore the movie stream itself is destroyed. MPlayer was able to display something, but as I said…glitches.

So I made a method that actually calculates the size of the header of each RTP packet and then removes this header:

   1:  public byte[] killRTPheader(byte[] b,ref int inlength)

The results speak for themselves: A perfect sound and picture.
